Wahatoya Lake Trail

Wahatoya State Wildlife Area

Loop trail with natural and gravel surface. The trail meanders through fields, woods and along the lake edge. There is a set of steps through a small arroyo on the south side of the lake. The trail follows a berm on the north side that offers a beautiful view of the Spanish Peaks and Mt. Maestas.

The Wahatoya State Wildlife Area is managed by Colorado Parks and Wildlife for fishing and hiking.  A valid hunting or fishing license OR SWA pass is required for everyone 16 or older accessing this state wildlife area.

Location: Parking is available at the entrance to the Wahatoya State Wildlife Area on Elm St. Drive east on Francisco St. Road bears to the right. The parking area will be on your left.
